In the summer of 2024 after my first year of university, I purchased a 3D printer. This dart holder was a simple first project to get the hang of 3D printing. I knew that I wanted it to 'float' without any visible screws. It was designed in Inventor Pro.
The leftmost part is a backplate featuring 2 countersunk holes with 4 friction-fit holes for the fascia to install into. The fascia then slots into the backplate hiding the screws providing a look similar to a 'floating' shelf. The design allows the backplate to act as a universal platform. Should different darts be needed, a new, correctly sized fascia that works with the existing backplate can be printed.
As this was my first print I learnt a lot. while the darts easily slot into their holes, the user experience could be improved if the bottom of the holes were chamfered, allowing the tip to slot in more easily.
